Social Services

Established Milk Fund for needy school children

Provided funds to Provident Heights Elementary School for an after school program

Provided assistance for Family Abuse Center for workshop regarding Recognizing Domestic Violence in the Workplace

Provided funds to the Advocacy Center for Crime Victims and Children for Mobile Team Challenge Portable Ropes Course

Provided funds to the Family Abuse Center for tables and chairs

Provided funds to CASA of McLennan County: A Child’s Voice in Court, a project of The Advocacy Center for Crime Victims and Children

Provided $100,000 as our 60th Anniversary Gift to help develop a Children’s Advocacy Center for Crime Victims and Children

Provisional Class 2001-2002 provided a playhouse and refurbished the children's playroom at the Family Abuse Shelter

Provided funds to Child Protective Services - Life Books for foster children in Waco/McLennan County

Provided funds to Youth Connection for their Real Care Outreach Program

Provided funds to Hope House for playground equipment

Provided funds to Family Abuse Shelter, Inc to purchase a storm door and Heating/Air-Conditioning Unit

Provided funds to the Waco Center for Youth, Volunteer Services Council for their Volunteer Resource Center

Organized a community-wide donation drive to benefit the Rainbow Room

Provided funds to Audre and Bernard Rapoport Academy to develop a library program

Provided funds to La Vega ISD Family Resource Center to provide bilingual resources

Provided funds to the Moody Community Library for materials

Provided funds to Building a Nation of Readers, Artists and Dreamers

Approved a signature project - LEAPS (Lead Empower And Promote Self-esteem) a partnership with Waco ISD

Provided funds to Waco- McLennan County Library for Early Childhood Literacy Kits

Provided funds to Midway ISD – Midway Reads – A district wide reading event held at Cameron Park Zoo

Community

Started a series of weekly parties for WAAF cadets

Participated in Dogs for Defense dog show

Developed Latin American Liaison Committee

Opened Thrift Shop to raise funds for the community

Purchased the Fort House and raised funds for its restoration

Launched the Junior League Charity Ball to fund projects

Initiated “Ecology Corner” for Waco newspapers

Assisted Baylor Oral History Dept in establishing the “History of the Women in Waco

Conducted Funding and Grantsmanship Workshop

Conducted Investing in Volunteers Seminar

Funded and produced a slide-tape presentation of Volunteer Opportunities in the community

Provided funds for the salary of the Curator of Education at the Centex Zoo and for equipment and supplies necessary for the education program at the Zoo

Provided funds for Family Secrets Magazine

Participated in the initiation of the renovation of the Waco Theater for The Hippodrome

Participated in the Texans’ War of Drugs Conference

Provided funds for the development of a training program for volunteers for Inner City Ministry

Provided $50,000 as our 50th Anniversary Gift to the City of Waco for the Planning and Construction of a public children’s playground and park on land adjacent to the Cameron Park Clubhouse

Provided funds to Waco Housing Authority Corp. for an Outdoor Challenge Program

Provided funds to Rebuilding Together of Greater Waco, Inc to underwrite the cost of purchasing materials and supplies to rebuild homes owned and occupied by families with children and/or adolescents living in the home and to underwrite the cost of the agency's annual insurance policy

Provided funds to Waco Humane Society and Animal Shelter to purchase puppets and educational tools for the "Kids and Kritters" program to teach elementary school children animal safety and responsible pet care

Provided funds to Waco Lions Park for the purchase of two new canopies to cover the pony carts and the boats

Hosted Kaleidoscope Children's Exhibit for community children

Refurbished the Kiddie Land Caboose and repainted the carousel

Gave $2000 00 Critical Needs Funds to Rebuilding Together Greater Waco to purchase supplies and materials to repair two homes in the Waco Community

Organized & hosted 1st Annual Waco Heritage Bike Race to provide funds for community projects

Established Done-In-A-Snap volunteer project & provided 27 different community agencies with  annual volunteer hours

Provided funds to the Bluebonnet Girl Scout Council “Girls Can Do Anything” project

Provided funds to The Cameron Park Zoo for the “You and the Zoo” project

Provided funds to Mission Waco for Cross Culture Experiences project
