Started in 2007, Awesome Outings provides elementary-aged children with activities and projects that would otherwise be unavailable to them. Modeled from a similar program of the Junior League of Fort Worth, Awesome Outings strives to promote self-esteem and peer-bonding, and to broaden the scope of future career possibilities for local children. The Junior League of Waco and Mission Waco have teamed up with children ranging from 5 to 12 years old, who are participants in Mission Waco's Jubilee Program, a curriculum-based organization that offers study assistance throughout the school year. The children and their teachers participate in several outings facilitated by the Junior League of Waco volunteers. Events have included Baylor sporting events, trips to the Cameron Park Zoo and the Heart O' Texas Rodeo.
